COLUMBIA -- The S.C. Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Republican Gresham Barrett and Democrat Vincent Sheheen in the 2010 race for governor. This is the first year the state chamber has endorsed gubernatorial candidates. The chamber’s Board of Directors voted Tuesday to endorse the two candidates. |

CHARLESTON -- The fast success of 17 North Roadside Kitchen in Mount Pleasant has attracted the interest of investors who want to open similar restaurants in five Southeastern cities, co-owner Steve Palmer said. Plans are already in motion for a restaurant in Charlotte, expected to open in August, Palmer said, and Greenville is next on the list. Palmer and Chef Brett McKee opened 17 North in November. |

DORCHESTER COUNTY -- Leaders say the arrival of German-based alternative energy company IMO Group could mean much more to the region than its initial promise of $47 million in capital investment and 190 jobs in Dorchester County. IMO’s presence could have far-reaching effects, according to area officials, who are trumpeting the company’s arrival as the beginning of a “wind energy cluster.” |
