			<description>CHARLESTON &amp;ndash; Nucor Corp., a steel manufacturer with facilities in Canada and the U.S., including several in South Carolina, has applied for a permit to build a $2 billion manufacturing facility in St. James Parish, La. For the last two years, Nucor has been considering sites on which to build a state-of-the-art iron-making facility in the U.S. and abroad. Officials were not available for comment at press time on whether any sites in South Carolina were considered for the new facility.

			<description>GREENVILLE -- An order for 667 wind turbines from oilman T. Boone Pickens won&amp;#39;t affect employment at General Electric Co.&amp;#39;s Greenville plant, a GE spokesman said, despite Rep. Bob Inglis&amp;#39; suggestion that it would lead to  new South Carolina jobs.  A spokesman for GE&amp;rsquo;s Greenville plant said the company hasn&amp;rsquo;t decided where to build the turbines Pickens ordered as part of plans to build the world&amp;rsquo;s largest wind farm in Texas.
