COLUMBIA -- The 17-story Bank of America Plaza in Columbia has been named an Energy Star building by the federal Environmental Protection Agency. It is the only office building in the state to achieve the rating.

Nuclear project gets go-ahead for site work Print E-mail

COLUMBIA -- South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. has permission to begin site preparation work for the two nuclear reactors it wants to build in Fairfield County. The state Public Service Commission voted unanimously to give the utility the go-ahead this week, with the understanding that SCE&G would take on the financial burden of the work.

850-unit project slated for Fort Jackson Print E-mail

COLUMBIA -- Eight hundred fifty new family housing units are coming at Fort Jackson, thanks in part to a bond offer being made this month. The project will bring new townhomes and single-family residences to the base. It will build 610 replacement homes. The rest will be conversions or renovations.
