GREENVILLE -- The Downtown Owners Group and the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce are already on board. But they need a third to make an economic growth strategy happen in the Central Business District. They want the City of Greenville to join them. At a city council work session on Monday, Carroll Gray, CCE of Design Strategies presented an aggressive proposal to recruit more offices and headquarters to downtown Greenville.

CACI receives $49 million SPAWAR contract Print E-mail

CHARLESTON -- The U.S. Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center in Charleston has awarded a $49 million prime contract to CACI International to help the Navy provide operational support to the FBI. The award, which has one base year and four option years, is the first prime contract that SPAWAR has awarded to CACI's Charleston facility.

South Korean business plans move to Greer Print E-mail

SPARTANBURG -- For the second time since August, Spartanburg County has landed corporate investment from South Korea. Iljin Group of Seoul has picked a vacant industrial building near the Greenville/Spartanburg International Airport for its first U.S. manufacturing plant -- a $38 million facility that would employ between 100 and 125.

Olympic Steel to invest $10 million in Sumter County Print E-mail

COLUMBIA – Ohio-based Olympic Steel Inc. is opening a $10 million facility in Sumter County and expects to create 65 jobs. Olympic Steel currently operates 15 facilities throughout the U.S. and has about 1,170 employees. This is its first facility in South Carolina. The company has an operation in Siler City, N.C.

New Kershaw chamber chief outlines plans Print E-mail

KERSHAW -- Reducing a multi-year deficit, launching new events and creating goals to help Kershaw County businesses are just a few things on Liz Horton’s to-do list. Horton becomes executive director of the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center on May 12, replacing Buddy Clark, who retired in December after eight years.
