GREENVILLE -- At least one Upstate bank has notified several hundred credit-card customers that personal information containing addresses and account numbers apparently was stolen and sold to direct-marketing organizations.

COLUMBIA -- SCBT Financial is reaching across the border into North Carolina. After dipping into Charlotte’s lending market for years, through its York County-based SCBT of the Piedmont, the Columbia-based bank announced Thursday that it was buying The Scottish Bank.

A $59.3 million merger announced Monday between First National Bancshares Inc. and the Carolina National Corp. is a marriage of like-minded financial companies that together will have a footprint spanning the Palmetto State, First National’s chief executive said Tuesday.

Banks joining to become ninth-largest in state Print E-mail

Spartanburg-based First National Bancshares Inc. and Carolina National Corp., based in Columbia, announced Monday they have entered into a definitive agreement to merge, with an aggregate transaction value of $59.3 million.
