MYRTLE BEACH -- If you were vacationing in Myrtle Beach, you'd be here by now, taunt billboards on Interstate 95 in South Carolina. The ads are targeting travelers passing by Myrtle Beach on their way to Florida, but is anybody paying attention? That's what the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is trying to figure out as it searches for the best way to pull new visitors to the Grand Strand.

MYRTLE BEACH -- In the nearly two years since the hospitality industry was shaken and stirred by the beginning of the free-pour era for cocktails, the change that started out rocky has become as smooth as a 40-year-old oak-cured bourbon. "Every restaurant I've talked to that has made the switch likes it," said Tom Sponseller, president of the S.C. Hospitality Association. Nor have there been any consumer complaints, he said.

MYRTLE BEACH -- The State Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism on Wednesday awarded the industry a record $5M for promotion, which with the local contribution adds up to $15 million for advertising.
