NORTH CHARLESTON -- MeadWestvaco Corp. is selling its paper mill and related assets, including a lumber mill in Summerville and chip mills in Elgin, Hampton, Andrews and Kinards, to KapStone Paper and Packaging Corp. for $485 million in cash. The mill’s management and 1,100 employees will remain.

GREENVILLE -- Synnex Corp. has announced plans to invest up to $7.5 million to expand its Greenville operations and create 300 new full-time positions over the next five years. Construction on the company's 43,000-square-foot expansion has already begun.

BLYTHEWOOD -- Computer Sciences Corp. will add 100 programmers and other professionals at its Blythewood campus, in addition to a 300-employee expansion announced in February. The two expansions raise the site’s employment to 1,400, up 800 in 2002 but still below its peak of 2,500 in 1998.

COLUMBIA -- Vought Aircraft Industries, which announced one of the biggest aircraft supplier operations in South Carolina in 2004, has agreed to sell part of the North Charleston operation to its customer, The Boeing Co.
