GREER -- Luxury car maker BMW AG said today it will cut another 5,600 jobs by the end of 2008, on top of 2,500 other positions that have already been eliminated, as it moves to pare expenses amid a wider cost-cutting program.

LADSON -- Force Protection Inc. has received separate orders for its mine-resistant armored vehicles from the ministries of defense of the United Kingdom and Italy worth a total of $123 million. The company also announced that John W. Paxton, an individual with more than 30 years of senior management experience in defense and other industries, has joined its board of directors.

INDIAN LAND -- Continental Tire North America is picking up and moving 12 miles from its Charlotte headquarters to a new building in Lancaster County next year. The new facility will house 300 Continental employees. It means an $11 million investment in land and development of a new 75,000-square-foot building at MacMillan Business Park.

GREENVILLE -- Greenville-based ScanSource Inc. has relocated its North American distribution center to Mississippi, where 218 employees are working at the 600,000-square-foot leased facility. The technology distributor said the new distribution center, in Southaven, Miss., will allow for greater warehousing capacity and improved productivity.
