GREENVILLE -- A German designer and manufacturer of electrical components and connectors plans to put its North American headquarters in Greenville County and create at least 15 new jobs. REMA USA, based in Bonn, Germany, will open its manufacturing and sales operations at 101 Park Place Court, off West Butler Road, as part of its strategic growth initiative in North America.

CHESTERFIELD -- American Prefabricated Drain has bought the former ChesterKnit building in Chesterfield, where it will invest $2 million to renovate the facility that will employ 25 to manufacture drainage systems used to remove groundwater from soil.

NORTH CHARLESTON -- Boeing's 787 Dreamliner is still on track for first flight this fall and delivery in the third quarter of 2009, but manufacturing issues are eating up extra time Boeing built into the schedule, and the program manager said the experience level of workers in North Charleston is affecting its ability to deal with supply chain issues.

NORTH CHARLESTON -- The aviation industry took another step forward in the Lowcountry on Wednesday as Venture Aerobearings unveiled its plant that will supply parts for jet engines. About 100 people are expected to be employed at the Palmetto Commerce Park in the Ladson-area facility by the end of next year.
