GREENVILLE -- A California software company with European partners said Tuesday it has designated the International Center for Automotive Research as its East Coast base and plans to have 40 to 45 engineers on the Clemson University research campus within five years. Ozen Engineering Inc. has a business development executive at ICAR.

CHARLESTON -- Force Protection Inc., a maker of mine-resistant armored vehicles for the military, and the Medical University of South Carolina announced they have joined forces to open the Force Protection Center for Brain Research at MUSC. The center will conduct vital research designed to improve the quality of life for the military, as well as civilians, who have suffered brain trauma.

CLEMSON -- Clemson University broke ground Thursday for an innovation center expected to spawn high tech jobs and spur the Upstate economy. Located in Clemson's Advanced Materials Center, formerly Clemson Research Park, on State 187 near Interstate 85, the center will be both an incubator and a "world-class facility," said Clemson President Jim Barker.

SPARTANBURG -- QS/1 turned green and got greener results. QS/1 teamed up with Cullen Pitts, AIA of McMillan Smith & Partners and mechanical engineer Wade Crow to embark on what Pitts called, “a green adventure” to create a new corporate headquarters.
