CHARLESTON -- Two S.C. state agencies were recognized for their air quality improvement work Tuesday at the Wando Welch Terminal in Mount Pleasant. The Port of Charleston, which received $2 million in stimulus funds, and the state Department of Education which spent $700,000 on news buses and retrofitting, were praised for their efforts to cut emissions. |

CHARLESTON -- The S.C. State Ports Authority is requiring employees to take off three more days without pay this fiscal year, in addition to two furlough days announced in August. The additional three days, announced Thursday, are part of the SPA’s effort to cut $7 million in expenses because of declining revenue, said spokesman Byron Miller. |
