Pickens Airport expansion moves ahead Print E-mail

LIBERTY -- Officials are working toward making the Pickens County Airport an asset for the county, helped in no small part by the recent announcement of a nearly $330,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Part of a $1.1 million airport facilities project, the federal funds will go toward construction of a new terminal building and adjacent parking lot, which the county hopes will be completed by 2009.

Testimony: Sanford urged sale of Port Royal Print E-mail

COLUMBIA -- Gov. Mark Sanford made repeated efforts to have the State Ports Authority sell valuable land at Port Royal in Beaufort County to a favored developer, according to testimony a Ports Authority board member gave to the Senate Transportation Committee this week.

Report ignores airport for Pee Dee, Grand Strand Print E-mail

FLORENCE -- The North Eastern Strategic Alliance study on the Pee Dee and Grand Strand’s airport needs shouldn’t be affected by the draft of a statewide plan that mentions no need for a new regional airport in the region, a chairman said.
