GREENVILLE -- A top official of Greenville-based Stevens Aviation Inc. said Tuesday the aircraft services company plans to expand, perhaps into Europe and the northwestern United States. Neal McGrail, the company's chief operating officer, told business officials and leaders.

COLUMBIA -- South Carolina Public Railways and the S.C. Department of Commerce said Wednesday they have begun developing a new plan to review the impact of rail transit, including both passenger and freight, on economic development and its role in making the state a more attractive destination for industry.

MYRTLE BEACH -- In an effort to increase business, Myrtle Beach International Airport will lower its landing fees from $1.97 to 50 cents per 1,000 pounds of weight beginning Sept. 1, Horry County Council Chair Liz Gilland said during a council meeting Tuesday. The county will also suspend landing fees for December, January and February.

MYRTLE BEACH -- Horry County will introduce an incentive package today that business leaders hope will help entice new airlines to the market - or at least help keep the current ones here, said the head of a golf marketing group. Although he would not go into detail, Bill Golden of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday said the county has "put a very aggressive proposal together, and now we need to go out and make it work."
