Work-related fatalities up 20% in South Carolina Print E-mail

CHARLESTON -- A recently released report by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that South Carolina registered a 20% increase in work-related deaths between 2006 and 2007. This includes the nine Charleston firefighters who died in the Sofa Super Store blaze, as well as a spike in highway fatalities and assaults and other violent acts against employees.

Advanced Technology Services adding 100 jobs Print E-mail

GREENVILLE -- Advanced Technology Services plans to hire nearly 100 more employees -- primarily maintenance technicians and specialists -- by late next year for its local operations. The Greenville branch of the Illinois-based company currently has 172 employees, a company spokesman said.
