ORANGEBURG -- The S.C. State University Board of Trustees met Wednesday via teleconference to announce the members of the presidential search committee to find a replacement for Andrew Hugine, whose contract was not renewed in December. The board hopes to have a new president hired by July. The search committee is comprised of 15 members representing the board of trustees, faculty, staff, students, alumni, the South Carolina Legislature and the corporate community.

ORANGEBURG -- South Carolina State University trustees are working toward having a new president by July 2008, the board chairman said Wednesday. The S.C. State Board of Trustees met by telephone to develop a framework for hiring a new president and to select a firm to help in the search. The trustees approved creating an 11-member presidential search committee.

ORANGEBURG -- South Carolina State University’s board of trustees Thursday named Leonard McIntyre as interim university president. The board has begun a national search for a new president. On Tuesday, the board voted not to renew the contract of the current president, Andrew Hugine. The decision was based on Hugine’s most recent annual performance evaluation as well as a May 29 academic review of the university administered by the Education Commission of the States.

ORANGEBURG -- South Carolina State University trustees could name an interim president as soon as Thursday morning after firing Dr. Andrew Hugine on Tuesday. With a conference call and a seven-three vote, trustees canned Dr. Andrew Hugine. The vote confirms weeks of rumors indicating some board members had been working to remove the man who'd been president since 2003. The board said it will conduct a national search for Hugine's replacement.
