GREENVILLE -- The subsidiary of an international company is eyeing Greenville County for a regional headquarters and customer service center that would employ at least 1,000 people, according to a county document.

MeadWestvaco to outline its plans for 72,000 acres

NORTH CHARLESTON -- MeadWestvaco will outline plans to develop 72,000 acres of forestland along the Edisto River today during a meeting of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce Developers Council. About 75% of the land, which is situated between Summerville and Ravenel, will remain open as conservation land, parks, lakes and rural areas.

Ethanol distributor moves to Main Street

GREENVILLE -- Greenville-based Lincoln Oil Co., is moving its small corporate headquarters to Main Street and spending $14 million to build an ethanol distribution facility in Anderson County.

BMW scores high in customer survey

GREER -- Customer satisfaction is a critical component of the U.S. economy because consumer spending accounts for about two-thirds of the economy, and for the ailing auto industry the news on that front is mixed. While Detroit automakers are facing a slump in customer satisfaction, international car companies like BMW and Toyota, continue to experience high ratings.

Rock Hill credit union avoids subprime crisis

ROCK HILL -- Despite the mortgage crisis roiling the economy, Family Trust Federal Credit Union reported near-record loan growth in the first six months of 2008. The Rock Hill-based institution posted an increase of just more than 9 percent since the end of 2007.
