Officials hope to make Upstate campaign last

GREENVILLE -- Local business leaders said Tuesday they're on track to raise about $300,000 needed to ensure that this spring's BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament is covered live by the Golf Channel for the eighth year in a row. They hope to make the positive publicity permanent.

County considers renovating mill sites

GREENVILLE -- Greenville County officials want to see something other than rubble thriving on the former Poe and U. S. Finishing mill sites. They've asked County Administrator Joe Kernell to find out the cost and what would be required for the county to clean the sites for another use.

Force Protection to restate SEC reports

LADSON -- The Ladson-based armored vehicle manufacturer will restate previously released financial reports for the three- and nine-month periods ended Sept. 30 and will delay its 2007 annual report. The reports are linked to the company’s discovery of significant accounting errors.

Force Protection begins management restructuring

LADSON -- Force Protection Inc. announced the appointment of Michael Moody as the Company’s chief executive officer, president and chairman. The company’s board has appointed Francis E. Scheuerell Jr., a managing director of Huron Consulting Group LLC, as the interim chief financial officer and has begun a search for a new CFO.

BMW to unveil major investment

GREENVILLE -- BMW Manufacturing Co. has sent out invitations to what the automaker is calling an "exciting announcement about an additional investment" scheduled for March 10. Speculation has run for weeks that major investment and perhaps the creation of jobs would result from BMW’s decision to increase production.

Logistics, warehousing company expanding in Greer

GREER -- Swafford Transport is expanding its 140,000-square-foot facilities on Old Highway 14, adding another 60,000 square feet of storage space. Company President Van Swafford said the expansion could open a handful of new jobs for the warehousing and logistics business.
