Preparing for tragedy Print E-mail
Wednesday, 18 April 2007

Monday’s horrible tragedy at Virginia Tech is a stark and sobering reminder of the dangers we face daily. It’s a reminder that disaster can come in any form and at any time. Some disasters are a little easier to prepare for, such as readying for hurricane season. But a mass shooting on a college campus is the kind of disaster that is tough to predict and even tougher, in many ways, to prevent.

These kinds of mass shootings seem to occur more at schools, but can just as easily happen at a business. What kinds of precautions does your office take to monitor possibly troubled employees or ex-employees? What sort of security system do you have in place? And does a tragedy like the one at VT cause you to reevaluate your safety measures and your disaster preparedness plans? Share your comments.
