Sanford, Newt Gingrich to host health care reform workshop Print E-mail

COLUMBIA -- Gov. Mark Sanford will join Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the U.S. House and founder of the Center for Health Transformation, for a special workshop today called “Creating a 21st Century Intelligent Health System in South Carolina.”

Gingrich has focused recently on health care, including promoting changes that he says will improve health care outcomes at a lower cost. Sanford has enacted a similar program that affects the state’s Medicaid program, called S.C. Healthy Connections Choices.

Guests and speakers at the event include policymakers, industry leaders, providers, members of the press and the general public.

The event will be held in the Richland Room of the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln St. The program lasts from noon until 5 p.m., with the portion of the program featuring Sanford and Gingrich lasting from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m.
