CHARLESTON -- The S.C. World Trade Center
has named Lisa Callihan as managing director. She will be taking over
the duties of Mark Condon, who recently stepped down as executive
director to take the position of vice president of world trade center
operations for the Trade Center Development Corp. in Fort Lauderdale,
Fla.
Trade Center Development Corp., a real estate investment trust that
builds trade centers across the globe, will be the future developers of
the new S.C. World Trade Center building located in North Charleston.
Callihan has a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University
of Kentucky, a master’s degree in communication studies from Marshall
University and a master’s degree in general psychology from
Jacksonville State University.
Callihan previously has been a faculty member of Marshall University,
the New York Institute of Technology, Florence-Darlington Technical
College and the Kentucky Technical and Community College system. She
also was the international programs director at Florence-Darlington
Technical College. She is currently the director of the U.S. Department
of Education Title-VI-B grant, partnering South Carolina students and
students in Europe, in a program of study concerning international
trade.
Callihan has been the director of education at the SCWTC since January
and will shortly be transitioning to the role of managing
director.
“My vision for the future would include a trade center offering needed
services to every South Carolinian, ever changing to respond to the
constantly evolving global marketplace,” Callihan said. “Since
knowledge is power, conducting international trade studies in high
schools, colleges, universities and seminars, will facilitate a
positive understanding and powerful economic focus in the future.”
Condon has been with the SCWTC since 1997 and will continue to have a
role in the SCWTC, serving as an adviser and board member.
