Staff Report

The city of Charleston has chosen Greenville-based Immedion LLC to handle its virtual hosting services.

The city had been actively looking for a new data center.

“We were looking to rebuild our site and move to a new provider at the same time,” said Wes Ratterree, the city’s chief information officer. “Because of budgeting constraints, the new site was put on the back burner, but we still had to move over to a new provider as soon as possible. We had been looking at top-tier providers in the Southeast region and narrowed it down to three.”

Immedion was a good fit for the Charleston from a cost and timeliness perspective, according to CEO Frank Mobley. It took less than a week for the city to sign a contract and move its entire site to Immedion’s virtual platform.

“The city needed something now, and we did everything in our power to make it happen for them,” Mobley said. “This partnership further establishes Immedion as the premiere hosting and data center services provider in the state of S.C. It is important to us to make sure our customers get exactly what they need when they need it.”

Immedion has operated a data center facility in Greenville since 2007 and offers an array of managed services
