The U.S. Chamber of Commerce's TradeRoots program has released its South Carolina Faces of Trade book, which highlights the international trade success stories of 36 South Carolina businesses. TradeRoots is the chamber's grassroots-level trade education program. "Many small business owners across the nation often assume the international marketplace is too large, too distant or too complicated for them to explore," said Leslie Schweitzer, the chamber's senior trade adviser. "This book shines a spotlight on businesses that are not just involved with international trade but are flourishing because of it. Each story provides a blueprint for success that other business owners can follow." The book highlights more than 30 companies in South Carolina, with biographical sketches of each company's international activities, quotes and photographs. written by Phil Minard on June 11, 2007 Ms. Becker should serve as an example of what can be accomplished when determination, a positive, can-do attitude, perseverance and a readiness to learn and adapt are combined in approaching new markets. Her encouraging foray into the Canadian market is an accomplishment in itself, but we know she won't stop there. We urge all South Carolina manufacturers and service providers to seek out the numerous resources available to help them export at: http://www.buyusa.gov/southcarolina/scitc.html Palmetto exports are on the rise! written by Lynne Becker on May 25, 2007 Thank you for your recent blurb on the US Chamber of Commerce's traderoots program. It was nice but it wasn't nearly as impressive as the SC Dept of Commerce's efforts in increasing exports; home-grown exports, I might add. I am a fan, no let me clarify that, a huge fan of SC's collaborative process that they have created for small businesses like mine. This group works incredibly hard to foster a relationship with businesses here in SC and international partners thru the SC Export Consorium, US Dept of Commerce & the SC State Dept of Commerce. Their trade misssions are unsurpassed. As a matter of fact, I have found that these missions produce more business in a smaller amount of time than preparing for a large tradeshow stateside. So dollar for dollar, small business need to expand their global views and see what the US Dept of commerce has for them. They won't be disappointed.
