Standby Generators
written by Kenny McLean on May 30, 2007 When preparing for hurricane season, many SC residents will install standby generators. There are two basic installation style, portable and permanent automatic style. If you choose to use a portable, always ensure that you have fresh gasoline with fuel stabalizers added, run your generator monthly for a minimum of 5 minutes, and ensure that ekectrical cord you use to connect to your house is safe and not cracked, etc. Finally, ensure when running the generator that exhaust fumes are not entering the house AND that you have isolated the electrical feed from the generator/house from the utility circuit. If you would like to install an advanced automatic system or would like more safety tips, please visit our web site at www.GeneratorPowerSolutions.com Realtor (R)
written by Teresa Cooper on May 29, 2007 For home and business, review your insurance policies with your insurance agent prior to hurricane season. Make certain you have adequate coverage for wind and hail, AND flood! Keep a copy of your policy and coverages, and your agent's emergency contact information in your HURRICANE BOX, ready to go when you evacuate. At our home, we assign who is responsible for packing certain items for evacuation. I take care of all the tax returns, insurance, and family photos. My husband makes certain we have provisions for the cats and dogs, and that we've "battened down the hatches" at home before we evacuate. My son is responsible for backing up data, disconnecting, and transporting all our vital computer equipment! Don't want to lose all those music downloads! |
