GREENVILLE -- First National Bank of the South named John Higdon as senior vice president and director of its wholesale mortgage lending division based in Greenville. The division, which was formed in January, specializes in the origination, underwriting and closing of residential mortgage loans for community banks and mortgage brokers.

Higdon has more than 19 years of mortgage lending experience and was most recently employed as vice president and wholesale mortgage director for First National Bank in Christiansburg, Va.
