The Forest Landowners Association Inc. awarded its annual Young
Forest Landowner of the Year award to J. Christian Hendricks. One
of only three individual awards issued, this award was presented at the
66th annual Forest Landowners Conference in Charleston. The mission of
the FLA is to support, through advocacy, education, and information, a
forest landowners' responsible management of their private property
(private landowners account for 60% of America’s forests).
Hendricks is president and broker-in-charge of Hendricks and
Co., a commercial real estate company in Columbia dealing
exclusively in the brokerage of South Carolina acreage and timberland
tracts. Using best management practices, Hendricks delicately manages
for both timber production and wildlife conservation on timberland
tracts. Hendricks spends time with new owners to educate them on
timberland ownership and management.
Young Forest Landowners of the Year are judged on several criteria,
including training in preparation to practice responsible land
management, participation in various forestry related activities,
leadership positions attained within forestry associations, significant
involvement in better management of forest property
and participation in lobbying activities.
Hendricks was nominated by W. Patrick Dorn Jr. of Anchor Investment Management LLC in Columbia.
“Christian Hendricks successfully combines his life-long respect for
responsible stewardship and forest management with a career brokering
sales of large land and timber tracts throughout South Carolina,” Dorn
said.
