CHARLESTON -- Roper St. Francis Healthcare officials announced Tuesday they are resuming their search for a chief executive officer for their new Mount Pleasant hospital.
In June, the hospital announced Pearce Fleming Jr. as its CEO. However, the contract had not been signed, and as the parties worked on the contractual details, “things did not pan out,” said Roper St. Francis spokeswoman Tricia Crimminger.
“Unfortunately, we were unable to reach agreement on the terms of employment,” said David Dunlap, president and CEO of Roper St. Francis Healthcare, in a written statement.
Fleming is no longer with Summerville Medical Center, where he was CEO, according to the facility’s executive office staff.
Attempts to reach Fleming this morning were unsuccessful.
Roper’s new hospital, to be located in the Carolina Park development, will include 85 beds, 24-hour emergency care, women’s services, inpatient and outpatient surgery, intensive and critical care units, plus imaging services, a laboratory and a pharmacy.
The hospital’s groundbreaking is slated for this fall.
