 Competing on a Global Stage
Bettering South Carolina’s business soil conditions is an important part of our state’s future, and by working together toward that end, we’ve enjoyed some key successes. There are 140,000 more South Carolinians working now than there were four years ago. We’ve made South Carolina’s economic climate more business-friendly through tort reform, an income-tax cut and focusing on work force development.
Our economic development allies, as well as businesspeople throughout the Palmetto State, are working every day with educators, government and many others to move our economy farther into the 21st century.
South Carolina was ranked as the Most Business-Friendly State by the Pollina Corp. in 2006, while the Organization for International Investment shows that we are the top state in the nation for direct foreign investment per capita.
The bottom line is that while there is still work left to be done, we are competing in today’s global economy, and our state is heading in the right direction.
Whether it is a large corporation relocating to South Carolina, or a small business working to grow into a large one, we continue to be committed to improving the quality of life for all South Carolinians by creating jobs and opportunity for our citizens.
