CHARLESTON – Palmetto Behavioral Health, a Charleston-based mental health provider offering services for mental illness and addictive disease at its facilities in South Carolina, has hired David C. Shiel as executive director of adult services.

In this role, Shiel is responsible for the overall management of adult inpatient services, intensive outpatient services and partial hospitalization services. Before joining Palmetto Behavioral Health, Shiel served as director of adult services for the Charleston/Dorchester Mental Health Center. Prior to that, he served as CEO of Family Service Greenville in Greenville, and previously held that position at Family Services of Northwestern Pennsylvania and at Stairways Inc. in Erie, Pa.
