BEAUFORT -- After nearly 16 months, Jasper County has lifted its building moratorium. Council voted for final approval of its overhauled land-use regulations and zoning laws, ending its building ban and opening another avenue for the boom projected in Jasper County. That growth has raised flags across the county line. Beaufort County Emergency Management expects a population boom to increase storm evacuation times.
