GREENVILLE -- Duke Energy said Thursday it submitted a combined construction and operating license application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a proposed two-unit nuclear station in Cherokee County. The company has asked state regulators to approve its decision to spend up to $230 million to develop the nuclear power plant. The company, however, said in a regulatory filing that it hasn't made a final decision to build the William States Lee III Nuclear Station.
