Not too many workplaces have air hockey tables, foosball tables and scooters. But at FGP International, fun and work go hand in hand. Just ask the employees who get trips to the Caribbean, shopping sprees at the mall and a chance to take a swing on the office putting green.
“People like to have fun,” said FGP President John Uprichard. “When they come to work, they need a smile on their faces and a spring in their steps.”
Other perks for FGP’s 50 employees include the company’s paying for 100% of health savings account premiums and 100% of vision and dental insurance.
And the recruiting and staffing company has been on the fast track to growth with 1,000% revenue growth since 2003. FGP acquired a human resources consulting company, Greenville-based Align HR, in September 2007.
In July 2007, FGP also launched FGP Technology to further the success of its technology team of recruiters and consultants. FGP Technology finds people for all professional levels, from help desk staffers to chief information officers. Part of the new brand is a new Web site where candidates can search for IT job openings and clients can manage
documents.
FGP International has been listed on the Inc. 500 list for two consecutive years (No. 478 in 2007 and No. 228 in 2006). The company also was honored with the 2007 U.S. Chamber Blue Ribbon Small Business Award and has been on the S.C. Fastest Growing Companies list for three consecutive years.
Keeping employees motivated and on task isn’t tough at FGP.
“If we have to manage you really closely, you’re probably not the right person for this team,” Uprichard said. “It’s a tough team to make, but a great team to be on.”
