Welcome to Who's Who in S.C. Business

In 2006, when we decided to produce a Who’s Who in South Carolina Business in the 2007 winter issue of SCBIZ magazine, we were overly optimistic. We didn’t realize that we were trying to eat an elephant in one bite. What we found was, to list everybody across the state who is a Who’s Who, we would need two or three magazines.

So we randomly selected a few people in several industries to highlight with brief biographical information. From those individuals, we selected 12 for longer profiles. Yet in our effort to be more inclusive, we also included a directory of Who’s Who.

In addition, we are highlighting education in a special Who’s Who section. In it you will notice the people we recognized are not the university or college presidents or other executives. However, that is not because we don’t think they are Who’s Who candidates. We decided to focus, this year, on who is teaching our next generation of teachers. Our decision was based on the fact that one issue we hear repeatedly is South Carolina needs a better-educated work force.

Throughout the next year we will be growing our Who’s Who list and increasing the number of industries recognized. So if you were left out, please let us know so we don’t miss you.

Enjoy reading about your colleagues, and let them know you saw them in SCBIZ Who’s Who.
