English accpets senior director position at USC School of Medicine |

COLUMBIA -- The University of South Carolina has hired Mechelle English as senior director of development for the School of Medicine.
As the former vice president for institutional advancement at South Carolina State University, English oversaw that university's first capital campaign and designed the first annual and major gift programs, which generated more than $7 million.
English was chief advancement officer for LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tenn., and director of corporate and foundation relations and major gifts at Benedict College. She also was president and executive officer for the Trident Urban League in Charleston and has held management posts with the city of Charleston and the S.C. Department of Commerce.
