William Renfrow had a vision to create an industrial construction company with the capability to provide full service to industries located in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. Renfrow Brothers has established itself as a general, mechanical and electrical contractor in these states. Renfrow is a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in mechanical engineering technology. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg and is a member of the board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

The firm has grown to more than 60 employees with offices in both Mount Pleasant and Greenville.

Steve Smith has more than 30 years of experience with Wilbur Smith Associates, a professional services consulting firm that specializes in transportation, infrastructure and community development planning, engineering and economics. Smith is a registered professional engineer in 10 states and maintains professional memberships in more than 16 organizations. His primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and establish policies and objectives of the business in accordance with the board of directors’ directives. He is responsible for setting strategy and vision, providing oversight of operations, building and nurturing the company’s culture and providing capital allocation direction.
Joel Van Dyke

After completing his education in business at Furman University and architecture at Georgia Institute of Technology and Clemson University, Joel Van Dyke began practicing in Greenville. In 1989, he joined a local firm where he practiced for more than 15 years as partner and director of design. In 2003, he established his own firm, Van Dyke Design Group, and in July 2006 merged his practice with Freeman & Major Architects, coming in as partner and principal. Van Dyke, who has worked with both private and institutional clients, has received honors and awards for his design work, which has been published in several regional magazines.

Stuart D. Whiteside is a registered professional engineer and a graduate of Clemson University, where he earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering. Whiteside has been involved in a number of community-based professional organizations including the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. His initial participation was with the Developer’s Council for several years and then as a member of the board of directors for the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 terms. He has been on other councils and boards, serving as chairman of the Construction Network of the Carolinas, board member of the East Cooper Planning Council, PTSO president at Wando High School and member of the Wando School Improvement Council.
