Steve A. Matthews serves as the firm’s managing director and has served in a leadership role since January 2001. He was nominated by President Bush to the U.S. Senate for the seat of U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals chief judge. Matthews’ practice concentration is in the area of information technology where he represents both developers and licensee-purchasers of software and hardware. An experienced corporate and public finance lawyer, Matthews also consults with the firm’s municipal bond lawyers regarding transaction structures and handles litigation for the firm’s municipal clients in matters relating to their governmental and financial authority. Previously, Matthews practiced with the Washington office of Dewey Ballantine and served in the U.S. Department of Justice during President Reagan’s second term.
