COLUMBIA -- Gov. Mark Sanford called Thursday for lawmakers negotiating differences on immigration legislation to strengthen the bill with tougher requirements for worker verification. The Senate's version of the bill requires private employers and public agencies and their contractors to verify the legal status of their employees.
