• Dubai’s non-oil trade accounted for 80% of the United Arab Emirates’ total non-oil trade
  in 2006.

• $60 billion worth of imports were registered in Dubai in 2006, the last year for which
 complete statistics have been released.

• Exports amounted to $49 billion in 2006.

• Re-exports, cargo shipped to Dubai and then sent on to other countries, amounted to
 $21.33 billion.

• India is Dubai’s No. 1 trading partner, with non-oil trade between the two nations
 soaring 336%, from $2.5 billion to $10.9 billion between 2002 and 2006. Exports from
 India to Dubai totaled $6.4 billion in 2006 while India’s imports from Dubai were $4.5 billion   
 during the same period.

• China is Dubai’s second largest trading partner with total non-oil trade reaching a record
 $7.9 billion in 2006 and imports amounting to $7.67 billion.

• The United States ranks fourth in exports to Dubai and third in imports with $180.5 million
 and $4.9 billion being generated respectively in 2006.

• The United Arab Emirates is the United States’ biggest export market in the Middle   
 East with 44% of the nation’s exports to the Middle East destined for either Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

• Iran comes in third in exports to Dubai and fourth in imports. Iran also ranked No. 1 in
 re-exports from Dubai. In 2006, its total re-exports from Dubai to other nations was $4 billion.

• Germany is Dubai’s fifth largest trading partner with non-oil trade reaching
 $4.28 billion in 2006.

• More than 500 German companies are currently operating in free trade zones throughout
 the UAE, most of them having regional headquarters there.

• Non-oil trade between Dubai and Japan, the city-state’s sixth largest trading partner, was
 trading partners, did $3.6 billion worth of business in 2006.

• There are 113 Korean companies with operations in Dubai.
