SCANA stays in Fortune rankings -- barely |

COLUMBIA -- Will South Carolina no longer have any Fortune 500 companies soon? SCANA, the Columbia-based energy giant, ranked 500 on the 2008 list of publicly traded companies based on annual revenue. South Carolina has had at least one publicly traded company on the list for all but four years since the Fortune 500 first was published in 1955. SCANA fell from No. 447 in 2006 to No. 483 last year after revenue decreased 4.5%.
