Owner, Kendra Haskins Design LLC
Even though Kendra Haskins has always been interested in art, design and architecture, she never really thought of that as a career path. At her first job working in events and sales at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, Haskins was able to develop some basic marketing materials with the help of the theater’s graphic designer.
“I was hooked,” she said. “I went back to school, and within a year was the theater’s graphic designer.”
Today she runs her own design company with the goal of making professional design services available to “anyone looking to take their business to the next level,” she said.
Haskins devotes a great deal of her personal time to being chairwoman of the Charleston County Junior Miss Scholarship Program.
“This program pushes each girl to express herself both intellectually and creatively and, whether they win any scholarships or not, each walks away with confidence and skills that will last a lifetime. I know because it did it for me.”
Haskins is also on the advisory board of Garrett Academy of Technology Graphics Department, a board member of Bon Vivants and a senior docent with the Historic Charleston Foundation Festival of Houses and Gardens.
Books on your nightstand: “Special Topics in Calamity Physics” by Marisha Pessl and “Born Standing Up” by Steve Martin.
Favorite music artist/musical genre: Lounge jazz.
Best stress reliever: Take a long walk — sometimes a very long walk.
Favorite vacation spot: Travel is in my blood, and I can never sit still for too long. So right now the winner is boating down the Nile in Egypt, but I’m sure that will change as I keep on truckin’.
