Executive director, Charleston Community Sailing Inc.
Jessica Koenig has turned a passion into a profession. Koenig started sailing when she was young, has coached sailing and raced competitively. She said her position leading Charleston Community Sailing Inc. is her perfect match.
“I am able to utilize my creative skill set, my experience in marketing and public relations and most of all, include my passion for a sport that has driven me to succeed,” she said.
The overall goal of Charleston Community Sailing is to provide access, facilities and sailing instruction to anyone, regardless of socioeconomic background, skill level or physical ability.
Koenig oversees the daily operations of the nonprofit, while coordinating eight high school sailing teams, a Special Olympics sailing team, the outreach program Buddy Sail with the Boys and Girls Club of Charleston, summer sailing camps and sailing clinics. She also handles marketing and public relations, the Web site and fundraising.
Koenig is a member of the Charleston Ocean Racing Association and the Charleston Yacht Club. She also is a team coach for the South Carolina Special Olympics sailing team.
