Owner/president, Cupcake

When Kristin Kuhlke combined her desire to own her own company with her passion for cooking, the result was a recipe for success. She opened a specialty cupcake bakery on King Street called Cupcake, which offers 30 flavors of cupcakes.

Kuhlke recently launched a second Cupcake in Mount Pleasant — part of her long-term goal to own multiple Cupcake locations and possibly franchise the business.

Kuhlke’s leap to open Cupcake is an example of advice she’s received, “There will never be a right time to do anything. If you wait for the exact right time, you will continue to wait. You just have to trust God, trust your instincts and take the leap.”

Dozens of local children munch on cupcakes daily thanks to Kuhlke’s generosity.

“We only sell cupcakes baked that day, so our leftovers get delivered to many different places around town such as The Ronald McDonald House, Crisis Ministries, SC STRONG, Winwood Farms Home for Children and many of the schools in the area.”

Kuhlke is also involved in various community outreach projects with her church.
