Chief medical officer, Palmetto Behavioral Health
Steven Lopez always wanted to be a physician, but during his medical school rotations, he developed an unexpected love for psychiatry and never looked back.
As chief medical officer at Palmetto Behavioral Health, Lopez oversees all medical care at the company’s four Lowcountry offices.
Each day, Lopez strives “to balance clinical work with an administrative role in a hospital setting. I hope I get it right,” he said.
Lopez falls back on some solid career advice to have fun at work. “If you are going to spend most of your day doing something, make sure you enjoy it.”
In the community, Lopez focuses on volunteer work for children and adolescents with autism. He is a board member for the Walk for Autism.
