PENDLETON — Ortec Inc., a polymer technology company headquartered in Easley, announced earlier this week it will expand its operations to Anderson County. Ortec purchased the former ISOLA Laminate Systems properties at 500 Westinghouse Drive in Pendleton. This industrial site includes approximately 100 acres and 250,000 square feet of manufacturing space and has the advantage of dual rail service.
Located near Interstate 85, the property is convenient to Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C., as well as the Anderson Regional Airport and the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport.
Ortec employs 175 people including a technical staff of about 40 engineers and scientists. Larry Brotherton, president and CEO, said the new Anderson County site will allow the company to expand its technical services and manufacturing capabilities for future markets. The company produces a variety of polymers for the coating and adhesive industries as well as specialty monomers and polymers for the health care and medical device industries.
“Ortec, a locally born company which now competes in the global market, will provide quality jobs, with above average wages in a diversified industry sector,” said Heather Simmons Jones, Anderson County economic development director. “This ‘win-win’ is even sweeter because it brings an older, existing building back on-line and into production. Working with the team that made this project possible has been a pleasure."
In addition to its headquarters in Easley, Ortec has one other manufacturing facility in Piedmont.
