CHARLESTON -- A contract to support activities and programs at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command in Hanahan could be worth up to $221 million for a local defense contractor.
The work will take place at the Charleston locations of engineering and IT firm Eagan, McAllister Associates Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Science Applications International Corp.
The company will provide production engineering, product improvement and testing, maintenance and technical support services for various command, communications, computer, cryptology, intelligence and reconnaissance programs. Some of the programs include the Marine Corps armored Humvee, joint explosive ordnance disposal, rapid-response vehicle, mine resistant ambush protected vehicles and other Department of Defense vehicle platforms and U.S. Navy and Marine Corps tactical vehicles.
The contract is worth $22 million for one year with four one-year options and three one-year award terms, giving it a total value of $221 million if all options are exercised, according to a statement from San Diego-based Science Applications International Corp. and SPAWAR. SAIC beat out one other bidder for the contract.
“It is a privilege for SAIC to help develop and implement cost-effective tactical vehicle engineering and integration solutions,” said Debbie James, SAIC business unit general manager in North Charleston. “(SPAWAR) consistently responds to the new, emergent and rapid-response needs of the war fighter and we are proud to be a part of that effort.”
With about 44,000 employees, SAIC serves the Department of Defense, the intelligence community, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, other government agencies and selected commercial markets. The company posted annual revenues of $8.9 billion last year.
