 Brothers in ethics: The building blocks of Shred First
Nick Wildrick and John Bauknight, fraternity brothers from Wofford College, later became brothers by marriage. In 1997, the two “brothers” started a company based on the principal of service to customers, employees, vendors and the community.
Shred First, based on Wildrick and Bauknight’s mission and code of ethics, was recognized on Inc. magazine’s 500 list of fastest growing private companies in 2003 and 2005. The company attributes its success to employee loyalty, based on a decade of building a business “sensitive to worker needs.”
Wildrick and Bauknight sold Shred First to the Cintas Corporation in August 2006 and look forward to replicating the company’s success this year through Shred First’s former parent company, Longleaf Holdings USA.
