Southern Growth Policies Board is non-partisan public policy think tank based in Research Triangle Park, N.C. North Carolinas. Developed in the 1970s, its mission is to advance "visionary economic development policies by providing a forum for collaboration among a diverse cross-section of the region’s governors, legislators, business and academic leaders and the economic and community development sectors." Southern Growth is focused on 13 Southern states (including South Carolina) and Puerto Rico.
The organization is polling Southerners on their attitudes and ideas about building a competitive Southern work force. This is the last week to participate in the survey. Participants' opinions will be represented in Southern Growth’s 2007 Report on the Future of the South and in presentations at the Southern Workforce Summit conference on June 3-5 in St. Louis, Mo.
The organization produces a number of interesting reports and weekly e-mail blast if you're interested in keeping up with advances around the South.
