MOUNT PLEASANT -- The South Carolina Radio Network, which provides news and sports programming to 45 affiliate radio stations in the state, has been sold to Missouri-based Learfield News.
Learfield purchased the network from Mississippi-based TeleSouth Communications for an undisclosed amount. Learfield operates state news networks in Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin as well as the agricultural news network, Brownfield Ag News, and the Living the Country Life network, a partnership with Meredith Corporation. Learfield’s news and agriculture networks have been providing programming to hundreds of radio stations since 1972.
“We are really excited to have the South Carolina Radio Network join our growing family of radio networks,” said Learfield News president Stan Koenigsfeld. “The Columbia, S.C.-based network has a dedicated staff of news professionals. Networks are our business at Learfield News and we look forward to working together to bring a great news product to the radio stations and residents of the state, and to applying a solutions based approach for the benefit of our marketing partners.”
