MB economic development group denied additional funds to lure new jobs

MYRTLE BEACH -- An Horry County committee denied the request for more cash from the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corp. -- which aims to bring new companies to the area -- and deferred action on tax relief for boaters Thursday. The request comes after the corporation failed to meet all of its goals in fiscal year 2008, which ran from July 2007 to the end of June. The corporation aimed to bring $90 million in capital investment to the county, but garnered only about $13 million.
