SUMTER -- Monti Inc. is planning a $1 million expansion of its facility to make room for new machinery and equipment, the company announced Friday.

“Our business is flourishing,” said Monti’s Plant Manager Eugene Finkbeiner. “Our top customer by far (Eaton Corp.) has a rapidly growing business, and we expect to do just as well.  The Lord has been good to us.”

The company’s Sumter location specializes in the fabrication of electrical insulation.

The expansion consists of a 15,000-square-foot warehouse to be constructed behind the existing 15,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. Space currently used for storage will be converted for additional manufacturing. Additional employees will be needed but the company did not say how many it plans to hire. It currently employs 18 employees, Finkbeiner said.

The expanded facility is expected to be completed by the end of December.

Monti Inc., headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, offers a range of services to the electrical industry. In addition to the Sumter location, they also have a second location in Greenwood, which specializes in copper and steel fabrication.
