AVX tries to connect military to pollution

MYRTLE BEACH -- Myrtle Beach-based AVX Corp. says in court documents filed this month that the U.S. military might be responsible for toxic contamination at its property and a surrounding neighborhood, a claim that is refuted by environmental tests, state health officials, depositions and minutes of a government agency meeting. AVX also wants a federal judge to issue a protective order so the manufacturer's employees won't have to answer questions about how the contamination occurred.
