GREENVILLE -- Tucker Carlson, MSNBC’s senior campaign correspondent, will be the guest speaker at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd’s annual lectureship on Oct. 14. The interactive lecture begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Wyche Pavilion downtown and is open to the public.
Carlson, who began his career at CNN as the network’s youngest anchor, joined MSNBC in 2005 and is known for his programs: The Situation Room with Tucker Carlson and Tucker. He was named MSNBC’s senior campaign correspondent earlier this year. He is also known for wearing bow-ties on air.
Tuesday in Greenville, Carlson will speak on “Politics and Partisans: Election 2008.” He will be analyzing the 2008 presidential election, giving audiences an insider's overview of the candidates and their campaigns, as well as covering the news and issues shaping the election.
After his remarks, “A Conversation with Tucker Carlson” will provide a lively and informative crossfire with interviewers Dan Hoover, political writer/columnist for The Greenville News; Michael Cogdill, WYFF News 4 (NBC affiliate) anchor; and South Carolina political strategist Don Fowler, former chair and current member of the Democratic National Committee who also teaches at the University of South Carolina, Wofford College and The Citadel.
The program, held three weeks before the country chooses a president, will address the political views of this year’s presidential and vice presidential candidates, the economy, voter turnout and other topics.
This lecture series was established by the Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd law firm to bring authoritative and informative speakers to the Upstate. Previous speakers have included Bob Costas, Fred Barnes, Judy Woodruff and Al Hunt.
